Sysco Sacramento Recall procedures

Within one hour of learning of a recall, our client notification process is started. Here’s how the process works:

  • A vendor contacts our corporate office with their recall.
  • Communication is dispersed to designated people at our facility including Inventory Control, Merchandising, the Recall Coordinator, and the Executive staff.
  • After reviewing our inventory, all affected product is segregated and placed on hold.
  • If any product has been shipped to our clients, the “Recall Team” acts immediately. We have detailed records showing when and how many cases our clients received.
  • A letter/statement is drafted detailing the recall and the steps that the client needs to take to ensure their customers' safety.
  • The letter is faxed to the appropriate clients in conjunction with a personalized phone call.

Every six months our Recall Team performs a mock recall to test our process and to verify we deliver what we promise.
